Gmail, finally made another update with its new logo design. Emphasizing the envelope, designed as the red letter M that has been in every Gmail logo since its launch in 2004. Now it has presented a more breathable design as part of a simplified, multicolored brand identity. The design now includes all four of Google's signature colors; blue and green are used to highlight the vertical stems on either side, and the yellow dot in the upper right corner is a splash.
Other tools such as Google Calendar, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides have also announced that their logos have been overhauled as part of a broader rebrand of the company's legacy G Suite services under the name Google Workspace. These, too, will be reduced to streamlined outlines embroidered in four of the company's main colors, bringing them much closer to Google's other minimal, four-colored logos, from Google Maps' pared-down location pin to Photos' pinwheel. According to Javier Soltero, vice president and general manager of Google Workspace, the unified identity of these disparate tools is emblematic of the growing synergy between the apps themselves.
New logos designed for Google Workspace tools 10 years ago, when most Google products were first developed, it was a goal to build a top email service with Gmail and create new document handling programs like Drive Docs, and now they're separate apps that solve many different challenges. Over time, products became more integrated, such that design styles between apps began to disappear. In other words, they started to speak different languages as a brand identity. Under the umbrella of Google Workspace, the company is now trying to create an even more seamless experience of using these tools together, and this functionality allows users to work across multiple different apps without the need to switch tabs.
Google has been focusing on renovations for a while. The company, which changed the logos of applications such as Calendar, Docs, Meet and Spreadsheets along with Gmail, recently changed the name of its service called G Suite and made Google Workspace. Aiming to bring together many services such as Gmail, Meet, Chat and Documents, Google is trying to gain an edge over its competitors such as Microsoft and maintain its weight in this area with these and similar steps.
